How is this different from a telehealth appointment? The MD Milk Supply Diagnostic is fully asynchronous there are no scheduled video or phone calls. Everything is delivered through secure messaging and documents on your timeline and mine. If you want live real-time support, the Telehealth Comprehensive may be a better fit.
Do I need to have labs done before I start? No. The diagnostic process includes personalized lab recommendations based on your intake and assessment results. You don't need labs done before purchasing.
Can I use my insurance for the labs? You'll receive a lab request form to take to your physician or OB to attempt insurance coverage. If your physician won't order the labs, a Fullscript direct option is also available at a discounted self-pay rate.
How long does the process take from start to finish? The timeline depends on how quickly you complete your intake forms and how quickly your labs come back. Each step has a 3–5 business day turnaround from my end. Most patients complete the full process in 2–4 weeks.
What if I have questions during the process? Secure chat is available throughout your entire diagnostic process. You can message me anytime and I'll respond within 1–2 business days.
Can I upgrade to a live consult after? Absolutely. Patients who complete the MD Diagnostic and want live discussion of their care plan can book the Telehealth Comprehensive Package ($240). Your diagnostic work transfers directly no starting over.
Is this covered by insurance? The MD Milk Supply Diagnostic is a private pay service and is not covered by insurance.
Is this within your scope of practice? Yes. Everything in the MD Diagnostic is within IBCLC scope of practice. I don't diagnose medical conditions or prescribe medications. I interpret labs through a lactation-specific functional framework, provide evidence-based recommendations, and support you in having informed conversations with your physician.
